Please find following an email from HKU. Some very important points for those considering Hong Kong.

I am writing to you at this time to update you on all the new happenings here at HKU, and as we embark on our 2012 admissions exercise, it is truly an exciting year for us. In addition to celebrating our Centenary, it is also the year when undergraduate education in Hong Kong will experience a unique transformation, introducing a newly designed 4-year degree curriculum.
We have also introduced a number of new programmes in addition to new elements to our admissions process.
Highlights of this year’s admission
More places available (for 2012 only)
To smooth the transition, HKU will be offering the existing 3-year degree curriculum alongside the new 4-year degree curriculum, and will have double the number of undergraduate degree places for non-local students.
Curriculum Reform
We have re-examined how the goals of an undergraduate education in the 21st century have changed over the last decade, resulting in a new HKU curriculum that has been the focus of attention worldwide.
More scholarships
We will have up to double the number of entrance scholarships to be awarded in 2012.
Increasing competitiveness
HKU had a record 42,500 applications for undergraduate study in 2011, resulting in a truly outstanding intake of talented students from around the world.
Fast Track application
A new feature of our admissions process for top students or those considering HKU as their first choice university is that they can choose to apply by November 1, 2011, to be considered earlier by their first choice programme.
We value whole-person education, whereby providing our students with academic, non-academic and professional experiences at an international level we hope to add value to the person they will become when they graduate. For more information on the University, our study programmes, admission requirements and details, please visit our website at http://www.hku.hk/admission, or contact us at intl@hku.hk.
