Why do lions have manes? Would it matter if tigers became extinct? And why are both ladybirds and strawberries red?

Quest University – Canada

Posted by Mr.K on 3rd October and posted in Canadian Universities, Scholarships and awards

As the autumn here in Canada is beginning I wanted to get in touch with a few quick updates on what’s happening with Quest University Canada and Admissions in particular.

After graduating our first ever class in April of this year we saw a 51% increase in incoming students for this September representing our largest incoming class to date! The incoming class includes 146 students plus seven exchange students from Quest’s international partner universities. The total university enrolment is now 350 students on our way to a maximum of 650. A total of 21 countries are represented in the incoming class, with 43% of the students from Canada (of whom 49 are from BC), 35% from the US, and the remaining 22% including students from Bangladesh, Bolivia, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Mali, Netherlands, Nepal, Sweden, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, the UK and Venezuela (read more). Needless to say we are all very excited!

For the coming 2012 academic year starting next September our admissions process will remain the same;

– A Free Online application at http://applynow.questu.ca

– Submission of;

o The students’ most recent academic transcript

o An essay of which there are five choices on our website

o An original piece of work demonstrating to us what the student is passionate about; this could be photography, another writing piece, a school project, music, a video, anything that tells us more about the student when they aren’t necessarily sitting in class.

o An interview with myself, the International Admissions Counsellor, conducted in person if possible, over the phone, through Skype etc.

– Any other materials such as SAT’s, ACT’s, other portfolios, etc are completely optional.

Scholarships also remain the same and require the submission of the Scholarship Application form, two letters of reference, and a personal resume;

– David Strangway Awards For Excellence – Full Tuition Scholarships recognizing high levels of academic achievement and an outstanding record of leadership and service.

– Presidential Scholarships – Up to $12,000 CAD per year with a focus on academic achievement.

– Quest University Canada Scholarships – Up to $12,000 CAD per year recognizing attributes and achievements outside of academics.

We will also continue to offer Need-Based Awards for students with demonstrated need regardless of their citizenship.

Tuition for the 2012/2013 Academic Year is $28,000 CAD (regardless of citizenship) and room and board is approximately $9,000 CAD (as we are residential all students live on campus).

We still process applications on a rolling basis but have a few deadlines in place:

– December 1st – Early Action Deadline – non-binding – we will give students an admission and scholarship decision before the new year if all of their application materials are submitted by this date.

– March 1st – Recommended Application Deadline

– March 15th – Full Tuition and Priority Scholarship Deadline

We are also presenting a number of admissions events in the coming year and do offer travel grants (deducted from first year’s tuition should they decide to attend Quest) for students travelling to campus to attend one of our preview days or for a campus visit.

If you have any questions about any of the above or all other things Quest, please don’t hesitate to contact me either at this email address or the phone number below.
